Misha Kachman


Misha is a native of St. Petersburg, Russia and a graduate of the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theatrical Arts. At Woolly he designed the set and costumes for Oedipus el Rey and sets for A Bright New Boise, Gruesome Playground Injuries, and Fever/Dream (Helen Hayes Awards Nomination). Since moving to DC ten years ago, Misha has worked for Signature Theatre: Side By Side By Sondheim, Really Really, Brother Russia; Round House Theatre: A Wrinkle in Time, Around the World In 80 Days; The Kennedy Center: Barrio Grrrl!, Unleashed!; Maryland Opera Studio; Theatre J: The New Jerusalem, Lost in Yonkers, The Seagull, Honey Brown Eyes; among many others. Misha serves as an Assistant Professor of Scene and Costume Design at University of Maryland. Prior to moving to the United States, Misha had worked as a staff museum designer at The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg from 1994 to 1998. He is also a renowned painter and printmaker, whose work has been shown at numerous one-man and group exhibitions in the United States and abroad. Misha lives in the District with his wife, two daughters, and a dachshund. He happens to be an obsessive long-distance runner.
