Bruce Randolph Nelson


As a member of the acting company at Woolly, Bruce has been seen in Wonder of the World, Big Love, Dead Monkey, Dead Man’s Cell Phone, After Ashley, Wonder of the World and Fuddy Meers and in 2000, he was recognized as an Outstanding Emerging Artist. He also enjoyed teaching a number of Improvisation and Acting classes with Woolly.

Bruce is also a member of the acting company at Everyman Theatre in Baltimore (voted Best Actor in 2012) where he has been seen in several productions including: August: Osage County, Our Town, The Mystery of Irma Vep, I Am My Own Wife, ‘Art’, The Turn of the Screw, The School for Scandal, The Drawer Boy, The Pavilion, The Crucible, and Watch on the Rhine. At Rep Stage in Columbia, MD he has been seen in The Goat, Hysteria, Bach at Leipzig, Kimberly Akimbo, The Lonesome West, Travels with My Aunt, The Violet Hour, The Dazzle, and Faith Healer. Bruce has been nominated 5 times for the Helen Hayes award of Washington, DC and won twice for his roles in The Dazzle and The Violet Hour. Bruce has also enjoyed work at the Folger Theatre, Olney Theatre Center, Center Stage, Signature Theatre, Washington Shakespeare Company, The Shakespeare Theatre and Baltimore Shakespeare Festival. 

From 1998 - 2007 Bruce was a professional book narrator for the Library of Congress, recording over 50 books and earning the Torgi Literary Award. Additional teaching credits include Everyman Theatre, Stevenson University, Howard Community College and the University of Baltimore. In 2011 Bruce founded Stage Presence, LLC to help business executives make more authentic connections using the skills of acting and Improvisation.  Bruce is a 1988 graduate of the Theatre Program at Towson University where he received the Theatre Humanitarian Award in 1986 and in 2001 was recognized as an Honored Theatre Alumnus.
